We know what you’re thinking…ANOTHER social medium I have to add to my strategy?

It seems as though everyday there is something new in social media that we just NEED to have. The truth is, video is becoming essential. With social media, interaction and connection is what’s going to set you apart from the others, and video just happens to be a great platform for this.

There are different ways you can add video into your content marketing:

  • Videos on YouTube / Vlogs
  • Webinars
  • Live interviews
  • Facebook videos
  • SnapChat
  • Periscope

….Just to name a few.

What makes video marketing so great is the potential to address many different subjects and issues in a clear way that your customers / fans can listen to easily. Not to mention, creating videos are relatively easy with the amount of options you have. You can get as fancy or as simple as you want and still get your message across successfully. You can incorporate videos into landing pages, blog posts, your website, social media (Facebook, Instagram etc.) to make your content strategy more dynamic and engaging.

So those are some of the benefits of creating a video marketing strategy, but let’s get to WHY you need it:

First, check out these stats from CodeFuel.com

  • 70% of marketing professionals report that video converts better than any other medium.
  • The average internet user spends 88% more time on a website with video than without.
  • 64% of consumers are more likely to buy a product after watching a video about it.
  • Using videos on landing pages can increase conversions by 80%.
  • 59% of viewers will watch a video to completion that is less than 1 minute.
  • Despite all this, only 24% of brands are using online video to market to consumers.

The stats above prove that adding a video strategy is key to your marketing plan. But it’s not just the stats that prove why, there are so many reasons why video content is essential.

Video marketing

Show Everyone Who You Really Are

The best way to connect with your customers is to show them you’re human. And how do you do that? Be real. Have fun. Show off your quirky personalities. For example, Buzzfeed features Matt Bellassai in a weekly video on Wednesday’s. His videos have gone viral basically because he’s getting drunk off wine at work and talking about stuff he hates. While a video like that may not be applicable for all industries – it works for them.  Moz.com has Whiteboard Friday, which is a webinar that delivers how-to videos and answers common questions related to digital marketing. Its purpose was that Friday afternoons are usually dull around the office, and it was an opportunity for teams to take a break from work and watch segments together.

How-To Videos

How-to videos are a great opportunity to capitalize on popular search terms for your videos. People will say they don’t want to giveaway their trade-secrets or show people that they can do what you’re offering on their own. The truth is, there are people who are DIY’ers and they will find a video on the how-to they’re looking for no matter what. Why not show them you can help them, rather than have someone else take your possible conversion. They may decide not to do it on their own after-all, or pass the reference off to a friend. How-to videos can also literally be created for any industry.

Answer Questions

If people are asking common questions, use each of those questions as a subject for your video. You can create many short videos that answer and explain common questions about your industry. It’s a great way to become an expert in your industry.

Product launches and product updates

Introducing new products, or showing people your products in a video is much more exciting than reading about it. Think about how YouTube vloggers are sent products to feature in their videos, and they end up making the brand a large handful of sales because the viewer gets see how the product works, what it does for the consumer and what it looks like in 3D.

Users are More Likely to Watch Than Read

This is a simply a case of becoming the user. Would you rather slave over a block of content (not to bash content in any way what-so-ever) or watch a quick informative video? Videos are convenient for the user and entertaining. The user will almost always choose convenience or the easier solution. So give them what they want.

Adding video is a great way to step up your marketing initiatives and show people more about your brand. Getting the hang of it can be tough at first. We offer video marketing services at Quick Marketing Group, and would love to show you how it can play an important part in marketing your business.
